PetPact
Privacy Policy
PetPact is designed so your pet's information lives on your device, not on our servers. This policy explains what we collect, what we never collect, and the few services involved when you use optional features.
Last updated: September 16, 2026
The short version
- Your data stays on your iPhone. Pet profiles, tasks, health records, photos, and walk routes are stored locally on your device. There is no PetPact account and no PetPact server holding your data.
- No ads, no tracking, no analytics SDKs. We don't use third-party analytics, advertising, or cross-app tracking.
- Photos are sent for processing only if you choose AI breed analysis — they go to our secure AI endpoint and are not sold or used for advertising.
- Location is only used during walks you start and the route is stored on your device.
- Deleting the app deletes your data. Because data is local, removing PetPact removes your information.
1. Information stored on your device
PetPact stores the following on your device using Apple's local data frameworks (SwiftData and app preferences):
- Pet profiles — names, species, breed, birthday, weight, activity level, and the photos you add.
- Care data — tasks, schedules, streaks, points, training progress, and achievements.
- Health records — vaccinations, medications, weight logs, vet details, and vet visits you enter.
- Photos and memories — photo entries and captions in your pet's timeline.
- Walk routes — GPS coordinates recorded during walks you choose to track.
- Household information — care circle member names you add locally, and invite codes you generate.
- Preferences — display name, reminder settings, weight units, and onboarding progress.
2. Information sent off your device
Most of PetPact works entirely on-device. Three optional features send limited data to external services:
AI breed & photo analysis (optional)
If you choose to scan a photo of your pet, the image is transmitted over an encrypted connection to our Supabase edge function, which forwards it to OpenAI's vision API to identify species, breed, and visible traits. The photo is used solely to return the analysis result to your device. We do not sell your photos, use them for advertising, or build a profile about you. Per OpenAI's API data usage policy, API inputs are not used to train their models. If the remote service is unavailable, PetPact can fall back to Apple's on-device Vision framework, in which case the photo never leaves your iPhone.
AI care plan recommendations (optional)
When a personalized plan is generated, non-photo context — species, breed, age, weight, activity level, and the routine preferences you entered — is sent to the same secure endpoint to produce tailored recommendations. This context contains no name, email, location, or contact information.
Subscription purchases
PetPact Premium is processed by the App Store and managed through RevenueCat. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID and your purchase/subscription status so we can unlock Premium features. Your payment details are handled entirely by Apple — we never see or store your card information. See RevenueCat's privacy policy and Apple's privacy policy.
3. Location
Location access is requested only when you start a walk and opt in to GPS tracking. Coordinates are recorded to draw your route map and are stored locally on your device as part of the walk's record. If you decline, walks still work — they simply aren't mapped. We never track your location in the background outside of an active, opted-in walk session.
4. Notifications
All reminders — task times, medication doses, vaccination alerts, and streak nudges — are scheduled as local notifications on your device by Apple's notification framework. Nothing about your schedule is sent to a server.
5. Camera and photo library
Camera and photo-library access are used for pet photos, the daily memory feature, and the optional AI breed scan. Photos you add remain on your device unless you explicitly run a breed analysis or share them yourself.
6. Data sharing and sale
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. The only third parties that process data on our behalf are:
- Supabase — hosts the edge functions that relay AI requests (processing infrastructure).
- OpenAI — performs photo analysis and care-plan generation for the optional AI features.
- RevenueCat — manages subscription status for PetPact Premium.
- Apple — processes App Store purchases and delivers local notifications, Live Activities, and PDF shares you initiate.
7. Data retention and deletion
Because your data lives on your device, you control it entirely: delete a pet, a record, or the whole app at any time and the associated local data is removed. Deleting the PetPact app deletes all locally stored PetPact data. Photo data sent for AI analysis is processed transiently to return a result; we do not maintain a database of your photos.
8. Children's privacy
PetPact is intended for pet owners and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Security
On-device data is protected by your iPhone's passcode and iOS data protection. The small amount of data sent for AI features travels over encrypted HTTPS connections.
10. International processing
If you use the optional AI features, photos and pet context may be processed on servers operated by our providers (Supabase, OpenAI), which may be located outside your country, including in the United States.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the "last updated" date above. Significant changes will be highlighted in the app or on this site.
